A Commis is an entry-level chef in a professional kitchen who assists higher-ranking chefs in food preparation and cooking. Responsibilities include chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and performing basic cooking tasks under supervision. Commis chefs often rotate through different kitchen stations to gain experience in various aspects of cooking. This role requires a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail, providing a foundational experience for advancing in a culinary career.
